Cold Header Machinist / OperatorWorthington Enterprises is seeking a Cold Header Machinist / Operator to join our night shift team in Maize, Kansas. This position supports the Main Valve Housing department by setting up, operating, and maintaining cold heading and related machining equipment to meet production schedules, quality requirements, and customer expectations with minimal downtime.The ideal candidate will demonstrate very strong mechanical aptitude, high attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Primary ResponsibilitiesSet up, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on cold headers/cold formers and multi-spindle screw machinesInterpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to machine parts to specification while maintaining required tolerancesPerform in-process inspections to ensure efficient and accurate production prior to approvalInspect finished product to verify conformance with quality standards and specificationsUtilize precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerancesWork independently and take ownership of assigned equipment and tasksIdentify and communicate opportunities for process improvementFollow all plant safety rules, policies, and procedures, including Lockout/TagoutPerform all duties in a safe manner and in accordance with company policies and proceduresParticipate in Lean Manufacturing and transformation initiatives, including safety initiativesAssist team members as needed to support production goalsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaComplete required documentation accurately and in a timely mannerPerform other duties as assigned by lead, supervisor, or managerQualificationsSolid knowledge of cold heading/forming or machining with strong mechanical aptitudeAbility to work independently and in a team-oriented environmentStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityEffective verbal and written communication skillsStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilitiesAbility to sustain a steady work pace throughout a 12-hour shiftStrong basic math skills, including metric and English measurement conversionsCustomer-focused mindset with a sense of urgencyDemonstrated commitment to personal integrity and product/process integrityPreferred QualificationsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work ordersAdvanced knowledge of machine repairAbility to read and write relay/ladder logicProficiency using precision measuring tools, including micrometers, dial calipers, height gages, depth gages, dial indicators, and shop gagesAbility to maintain engineering and manufacturing tolerances and finishesStrong in-process inspection skillsKnowledge of manufacturing safety protocolsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationshipsPhysical DemandsAbility to lift 50 pounds or moreAbility to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shiftAbility to work in a manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled, with exposure to varying temperaturesShift: Night ShiftSchedule12-hour shifts (2-2-3 schedule)Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AMTraining will be conducted on Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
