Coater Operator - Specialty Materials Manufacturing

Coater OperatorOur client is a growing specialty materials manufacturer seeking a Coater Operator to join their production team. This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined individual who enjoys working with advanced manufacturing equipment and is willing to learn a highly technical coating process.The Coater Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring coating equipment used to apply specialty coatings and adhesives to various flexible materials. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with production, quality, and maintenance teams.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with manufacturing experience who wants to build a long-term career in a specialized industry where operators become experts in complex processes.Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment OperationOperate and monitor specialty coating equipment used in the production of engineered materialsSet up machines according to production specifications, work orders, and customer requirementsLoad raw materials and prepare equipment for production runsMonitor machine performance, coating application, web tension, temperatures, and process controlsMake machine adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiencyPerform changeovers, adjustments, and basic troubleshootingQuality & Process ControlInspect finished materials to ensure customer specifications are metPerform quality checks including visual inspections, measurements, and documentationIdentify process issues and communicate problems quickly to leadership and quality teamsMaintain accurate production records and follow work instructionsMechanical TroubleshootingDiagnose basic equipment issues and make adjustments when neededWork closely with maintenance personnel on equipment repairsUnderstand mechanical systems including rollers, drives, tension controls, sensors, and machine componentsParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivitySafety & TeamworkFollow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environmentSupport Lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement effortsWork effectively with production team members, supervisors, and support departmentsQualificationsRequired:Manufacturing or industrial production experience preferredStrong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learnAbility to understand machine operation and process controlsAbility to troubleshoot problems and make adjustmentsStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to work a 12-hour shift schedulePreferred:Experience operating coating, laminating, printing, converting, extrusion, or web-processing equipmentExperience with roll-to-roll manufacturing processesExperience with slitting, rewinding, printing, or flexible materialsPrevious experience in specialty materials, adhesives, packaging, or converting industriesIdeal Candidate ProfileThe successful candidate is someone who:Enjoys working on machines and understanding how they operate Has a natural curiosity and wants to learn a technical process Takes ownership of equipment performance and quality Likes solving problems instead of simply performing repetitive tasks Wants a career path in advanced manufacturingThis role is not just a machine operator position.
