Co-Op: Mechanical Engineering

Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Co-op (OEM)Position SummaryThe Mechanical Engineering Co-op will support the design, development, and documentation of industrial machinery within an OEM environment. This role provides hands-on experience assisting engineers in product development, CAD modeling, and machine assembly support while contributing to continuous improvement and problem-solving efforts.Key ResponsibilitiesTo perform this role successfully, the individual must be able to carry out the following duties effectively:Assist in the design, modeling, and documentation of mechanical components and assembliesSupport engineering activities during machine builds, assembly, and testingParticipate in design reviews and contribute feedback to improve product quality and performanceCollaborate with lead engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical and customer-related issuesAid in the development of new parts, systems, and assembliesHelp create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings and specificationsPromote and adhere to a safe and healthy work environment for all employeesQualifications & EducationCurrently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year universityPrior internship, co-op, or project experience in a manufacturing or OEM environment is a plusTechnical SkillsFamiliarity with CAD software; experience with Creo, SolidWorks, and/or Siemens NX preferredBasic understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processesExposure to engineering design reviews, hazard analyses, and FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) is beneficialCore CompetenciesStrong problem-solving and analytical thinking skillsAbility to organize work, manage time effectively, and meet deadlinesClear and concise written and verbal communication skillsAbility to collaborate across cross-functional teams and with suppliersSelf-motivated, with a proactive approach to learning and task completionCapable of preparing technical reports, summaries, and presentationsWhat You’ll GainHands-on experience in industrial machinery design and OEM engineering processesExposure to real-world engineering challenges and cross-functional collaborationOpportunity to develop CAD, problem-solving, and technical communication skillsMentorship from experienced engineersThis FMSI co-op position is for the Fives Cincinnati facility.
