CNC Tech I (2nd Shift)Shield - KS - Kansas City, KS 66115OverviewSHIELD is a Kansas City based manufacturer who designs and builds products for the world's best sports and healthcare brands. Our lockers are chosen by the top NBA, NFL, NCAA teams and our innovative healthcare products help the best doctors and nurses serve their patients in modern, clean environments at many of the most nationally recognized health care facilities in the United States.Reporting to the CNC Supervisor, this role is an on-site, 2nd shift, full-time, hourly position with availability for overtime and Saturdays when necessary. The hours for this position are 3pm - 11:30pm.

The CNC Tech must be a strong team player with a positive attitude, willing to take direction as well as be a self-starter and enjoys working in a creative, problem solving, and fast-paced manufacturing environment.Essential Responsibilities/FunctionsSet up and operate CNC routersInspect the machinery and product for quality assuranceWorks safely in a fabrication shop environment; handle material appropriatelyWork with other team members and Shield leadership to identify and resolve issues in real timeMaintain a positive attitude and help the team find solutions even when faced with stressful situations and challenging peopleSubmit time sheets, PTO requests, and all other necessary forms and communication on time and accuratelyFulfill other production and shop related duties assigned as neededKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesAbility to set up and operate CNC routersKnowledge of general machining practices and techniquesKnowledge of reading and interpreting blueprintsKnowledge of fractions, decimals, units, as well as basic geometryAbility to use various measuring toolsUnderstanding of tooling and work holding fixturesKnowledge of material identification and functions of those materialsAbility to comprehend and retain information, executing as directedCan work independently, but knows when to stop and ask questionsAbility to successfully execute projects on tight deadlines and to perform at high levels in a fast paced and ever-changing work environmentReliable in attendance, quality, and communicationEducation/Certifications/Experience3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC routers is preferred but not requiredCasework, furniture or cabinet building experience preferredPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawlThe employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsThe employee must be able to stand for extended periods of timeSpecific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focusEmployee must be able to talk and hearWork EnvironmentDue to our onsite and remote Fabrication and/or Installation processes, the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
