Employees thrive in a culture that values craftsmanship, technical mastery, and close partnership with customers solving complex challenges.Essential Duties And Responsibilities:Lead a team of 30-50 operators and sorters on two shifts in a machine shop with 20+ Swiss lathes (B30), 2 Swiss lathes (B10), and related operationsFollow established procedures and approved supervisory processesReview production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information, which will dictate the manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities to be employedEnsure that machine operators operate equipment safely, as well as meet production, quality, and cost targetsAdminister and execute policies, procedures, and practices that affect supervised employeesRelentlessly drive improvement of the operations under their purview using Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement strategiesSchedule production of plastic seals and/or medical housings for high-quality, on-time/in-full delivery to the customerPlays an integral role in helping Bal Seal Engineering achieve its goal of becoming an Employer of Choice, and maintaining this status, by creating a department that balances individual accountability with a fun, achievement-oriented, collegial environmentPerform other related duties as assignedPerforms all job responsibilities while demonstrating ACE Values: Accountability by owning quality and production results, Collaboration by working effectively with team members and support groups, and Empowerment by taking initiative to solve problems and improve processes.Education:High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or higher desirable)Understanding of Continuous Improvement practices like Lean or Six Sigma (certification preferred)Experience:Minimum of five (5) years of progressive and relevant supervision experience in a related field such as manufacturing, medical devices, industrial, aerospace, or automotiveMinimum of seven (7) years of manufacturing process experience with some machine shop (especially Swiss turning) experienceStrong leadership experience in a diverse manufacturing environmentExperience with complex schedulingKnowledge, Skills And Abilities:Leadership, interpersonal and team building skillsDevelop and revise a complex production schedule to ensure timely production output, often months in advance of due datesAbility to read and interpret blueprints and tool designsKnowledge of machining operations and equipment, including metallurgy, various tool holders, cutting tools, finishing equipment, and inspection and measurement equipment and methodsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to solve problems at their root, independently or as part of a teamUnderstanding of continuous improvement practices.Ability to delegate duties as neededPhysical Requirements:Employees are occasionally required to standWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walkThis position is mainly sedentary; Therefore, required to sitOccasionally will need to bend, stoop, and squatFrequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or moving up to 25 poundsRequired to reach with hands and arms to handle documents and productsMust be able to enter data into a computer by use of a keyboard and mouse and be able to sit for long periods at his/her desk as well as occasionally visit employees throughout the building to gather data and clarify informationWork Environment:The work environment conditions are typical of both an office and a manufacturing environment.
