CNC Operator - San Diego, CA - Immediately HiringThe CNC Operator will start in the deburr area to learn proper deburring and blending techniques, then transition to operating CNC 3-axis mills that align with their prior experience. This role focuses on machining and finishing metal parts, performing quality inspections, and supporting production across the machine shop. The position offers exposure to multiple machines and processes, including assembly and rubber molding operations, in a clean, safety-focused manufacturing environment.Responsibilities:Deburr and blend metal parts accurately during the initial training period to meet quality standards.Set up and operate CNC 3-axis mills, loading parts, selecting programs, and initiating machine cycles.Operate Mori Seiki and Fadal CNC machines to mill and drill parts to specification.Work with a variety of materials including aluminum, copper, brass, carbon steel, and chromalloy.Grind, finish, and deburr machined parts to achieve required surface quality.Perform basic quality inspections on completed parts using vernier calipers, digital micrometers, drop gages, depth mics, and other precision measurement tools.Read and interpret blueprints to ensure parts are machined to correct dimensions and tolerances.Measure and examine completed products for defects and verify conformance to specifications.Evaluate part finish for cutter wear or damage and communicate issues as needed.Use paperless setup sheets and digital work instructions at each workstation to complete tasks accurately.Keep productive during machine run times by deburring other parts, setting up parts in tumblers, and teaming up to support other areas of the machine shop when needed.Support assembly operations by performing tasks such as riveting, notching, and installing fasteners when assigned.Operate a rubber molding machine in the molder role when required, including lifting molds into place, inserting metal frames and rubber filling, and engaging the mold to press and melt the rubber.Mill out gaskets and machine grooves where other operators will install rubber seals.Follow production metrics and output requirements in a high-volume manufacturing environment.Work independently while maintaining high accuracy and consistent quality.Adhere to all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in the machine shop and related departments.Essential Skills:At least 6+ months of CNC operating experience OR a minimum of 3+ years of machine operator experience.Ability to set up and operate CNC 3-axis mills independently.Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints to machine parts to specification.Capability to work independently and manage tasks without constant supervision.Ability to meet production metrics and performance targets in a manufacturing environment.Experience with deburring, grinding, and finishing metal parts.Skill in using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, drop gages, depth mics, and digital micrometers.Comfort working with metals including aluminum, copper, brass, carbon steel, and chromalloy.Basic understanding of CNC operations and G & M codes.Attention to detail and strong commitment to quality and safety.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Experience with Mori Seiki and Fadal CNC machines.Familiarity with Haas mills and other CNC milling equipment.Experienced in CNC setup, including loading parts, selecting programs, and verifying tooling.Experience using a paperless system for setup sheets and work instructions.Knowledge of timesaver and other finishing equipment.Ability to perform assembly tasks such as riveting, notching, and installing fasteners.Experience operating rubber molding machines, including handling molds and rubber filling.Comfort working as part of a team in a machine shop, molding, bonding, and warehouse environment.Willingness to learn new machines and processes over time and to assist in other departments when needed.Why Work Here?Employees join a friendly, supportive workplace that values a strong family-style culture and teamwork across departments. The position works on 1st shift, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., alongside a sizable team of operators and technicians. Workstations use a paperless system for setup sheets, and employees regularly work with CNC mills, rubber molding machines, and precision measurement tools. The environment emphasizes safe work practices, collaboration across shifts, and consistent production in a well-structured industrial setting.Job Type & Location:This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
