CNC Operator / MachinistThis role focuses on setting up and operating CNC lathes and milling machines to produce precision components for industrial pumping solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work primarily with CNC lathes, perform frequent machine changeovers, and use Fanuc controls, precision measuring tools, and detailed blueprints to ensure high-quality, accurate parts.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC lathes as the primary focus, as well as CNC milling machines, to produce precision machined components.Perform frequent machine changeovers and tool offsets, averaging 3 to 10 setup changes per shift.Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, job travelers, and process documentation to determine machining requirements.Utilize Fanuc controls to load, verify, adjust, and run CNC machining programs.Inspect in-process and finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other inspection tools.Record and log dimensional measurements and quality data in accordance with company procedures and documentation standards.Verify that machined parts meet customer specifications, tolerances, and internal quality standards.Monitor machine performance during operation and make appropriate adjustments to maintain part quality and production efficiency.Change tooling, replace inserts, and perform routine machine maintenance as required to keep equipment in optimal condition.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all shop safety practices and guidelines.Collaborate closely with supervisors, programmers, and quality personnel to troubleshoot and resolve machining and quality issues.Follow established machining processes while providing feedback for continuous improvement of setup efficiency and product quality.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or GED.2+ years of CNC machining experience preferred, ideally in a production environment.Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes and CNC mills.Experience with Okuma and/or Matsuura machining equipment preferred.Working knowledge of Fanuc CNC controls, including loading and running programs.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and basic GD&T concepts.Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers.Strong attention to detail with a clear commitment to producing high-quality work.Ability to perform multiple setups and changeovers throughout a shift without sacrificing quality.Basic mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude applicable to machining operations.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods during the shift.Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with frequent setups and changeovers.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working in a machine shop environment with CNC machine setup and operation.Familiarity with G-code programming concepts and milling operations.Experience with tooling selection, offsets, and basic CNC programming adjustments.Experience using inspection tools beyond micrometers and calipers, such as bore gauges.Ability to follow documented processes and accurately complete production and quality records.Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with supervisors, programmers, and quality teams.Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow safety procedures.Interest in professional development and training to advance into more technical or leadership roles.Why Work Here?You will join a company that invests in its people through comprehensive benefits, safety support, and clear growth paths. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift, including lifting up to 50 pounds. The production floor operates at a fast pace, with multiple daily setups and changeovers on CNC lathes and mills. You will work around CNC machines such as Okuma and Matsuura, using Fanuc controls, precision measuring tools like micrometers and calipers, and standard machine shop equipment. Safety is a priority, with safety glasses, boots, and other protective equipment provided to support a safe and professional work setting.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alsip, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
