CNC ProgrammerPosition Overview:The CNC Programmer will program, set-up, and operate Mazak Mills or Lathes using Mazatrol programing. We also use Fusion 360 and Solid Works CAD/CAM software.
Experience in either of the two would be extremely helpful. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of programming experience. Short production/job shop work environment requires you to be able to work safely while also maintaining quality and deadlines.Specific Responsibilities Include:Program, set-up, and operate Mazak Mills or LathesChange, set and adjust tools as requiredUnderstand how to use various software applications to program machinesLoad and delete programs in the computer.Make machine adjustments of feeds and speeds on the assigned machine.Supervise and oversee the work of other CNC ProgrammersCheck parts using specified gages or measuring tools to see that dimensions are being maintained.Report improper machine function and/or check parts not being held to the proper dimensions.Able to use machinists hand tools and precision measuring instruments.The ideal candidate MUST:Be completely knowledgeable in reading and understanding 2D prints and/or 3D models, including knowledge of GD&TPossess strong math skills and have a good understanding of conversational Mazatrol or some type of CAM softwareHave knowledge of G code, M code, tool selection, grades, tool geometry and coatings.Have a full and strong understanding of how the CNC will be milling components per the material being machined.Ability to design and manufacture fixtures that may be needed to complete the job.Excellent management skills.Understand how to keep the machine in good working order and how all the materials and processes that a CNC is programmed for.Know how to use measuring tools including, calipers, micrometers, thread gages and wires, depth micrometers, etc.Qualifications/Experience:High School educationMinimum of 5 years CNC Programing experienceExperience with CAM and MazaksAbility to read blueprints.Strong math skills are a requirement to successfully perform (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals).Have complete knowledge of the machinability of metals.Have the knowledge of and/or the ability to learn shop geometry and trigonometry.Must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.Must be able to operate in a heavy deadline environment.Must be an energetic self-starter and have a strong sense of urgency, and capable of following tasks through to completion.Excellent organization and proven verbal and written communication skills.Supervisory ResponsibilityMust be able to speak, read and write English as part of the job.Other Important Information:Work Environment - This job operates in a shop environment where tools and other machinery is used.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work - This is a full-time position. General office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, this schedule may vary based on the needs of the shop and as assigned by the supervisor which will change as required based on job duties demand.
