CNC MachinistThe CNC Machinist II sets up, programs, and operates multiple CNC mills and lathes (3, 4, & 5 Axis) to produce precision components from simple to mid-level complexity. This role performs part setups, first article inspections, in-process quality checks, and surface finishing activities, while maintaining accurate production records and equipment care.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate multiple CNC mills and lathes to machine parts with simple to mid-level complexity in accordance with mechanical drawings.Monitor several CNC machines at one time, responding to and resolving machine alarms and faults promptly.Perform part setups, including fixturing and tooling, and provide first article parts for inspection.Break down machines after production runs, ensuring proper documentation and readiness for the next job.Program CNC parts with simple to mid-level features based on mechanical drawings and specifications.Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to address print issues and identify areas for process or product improvement.Maintain part-specific work orders in the ERP system by accurately recording accepted and defective parts.Perform visual and dimensional inspection using precision measuring tools to meet internal standards and customer requirements.Perform surface finishing activities such as deburring, tumbling, and shot peening of machined parts.Essential Skills57 years of machine shop experience in a CNC machining environment.Ability to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, including part fixturing, tooling, and program adjustments.Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and blueprints.Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); advanced understanding is a plus.Proven skill using basic machine shop measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.Experience operating and working within a machine shop environment with mills, lathes, and related equipment.Additional Skills & QualificationsMachine shop trade school education or formal machining training is a plus.Familiarity with advanced measurement methods and precision inspection techniques is desirable.Experience with CNC setup and programming for both mills and lathes.Comfort working with GD&T to interpret tolerances and part features.Knowledge of deburring, tumbling, and shot peening processes for surface finishing.Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean, organized work area in line with lean manufacturing principles.Why Work Here?You will join a small, highly skilled team in a precision-focused manufacturing environment where quality and craftsmanship are valued.
