Machining Floater – 2nd ShiftMaag Gala Inc.Reports To: Machine Shop SupervisorPosition Location: Eagle Rock, VAFLSA Class: Position Type: Full-timeThe main operation for the Machining Floater is the operational skills of a Braze Technician. This candidate is responsible for cross-training in different areas of the machine shop including but not limited to EDM operation, Manual Lathe, Knee Mill, Die Plate Inspection, Die Plate return, etc.Tasks, responsibilities, competencies:Read and interpret blueprintsSet up and operate CNC Mills and Lathes including Manual Machines on the shop floor.Establish zero and reference points for each part to be machined.Understand work holding systems with Manual and automated machines.Reading and understanding blueprintsBe able to read specific measuring tools related to the work area (i.e. micrometers, depth mics, calipers)Work from set-up sheets from programmersUnderstand the efficient use of each machine on the floor.Install machining programs into the machine.Send correct offsets to each tool being used.Establish zero and reference points for each part to be machined.Monitor and replace worn tools as needed.Dimensionally and visually inspect the product to ensure the product meets all print and customer requirements.Other tasks as assigned by the manager.The incumbent considers all interests of quality, accident prevention, and occupational safety as well as environmental safety in a preventive manner within his scope of responsibility and supports the avoidance of damages to people, facilities, assets, materials, and the environment actively. The incumbent is obliged to perform tasks requested by management that relate to his position scope or arise from company needs.

The employee may be exposed to airborne particles, metal shavings, sharp cutting tools, and moving mechanical parts. PPE and hearing protection are always required including the use of Steel Toed Shoes.Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, or bend. The employee must be able to lift items to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focusEducation:Mandatory: High School diploma or equivalent education (additional technical skills a plus) Machining Fundamentals I &II course – will take after the hire date.Desirable: Machinist / Tool Maker apprenticeship card (i.e.

journeyman) Technical training/certificationsProfessional experience:Mandatory: Machining/manufacturing background related to the position.Desirable: CNC Programing / Set up / Operation. Wire and plunge EDM experience.
