CNC Machine Operator – Pipe Bending DepartmentThis role focuses on operating CNC equipment in a pipe bending department, primarily using HAAS machines. You will perform precise cutting and bending operations, interpret technical drawings, and contribute to a fast-paced, construction-related prefabrication shop. The position offers cross-training on multiple machines and hands-on work with measuring, cutting, and fabrication tools.ResponsibilitiesOperate CNC machines in the pipe bending department, with a primary focus on HAAS equipment.Set up and run CNC programs to complete pipe bending and cutting operations according to specifications.Cross-train and become proficient on three different machines within the department.Perform saw operations, including bandsaw and saw cutting, to prepare materials for fabrication.Use tape measures and other measuring tools to ensure accurate cuts and bends, maintaining tight tolerances.Read and interpret blueprints, wire diagrams, and written instructions to complete jobs correctly.Apply strong mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot basic issues with machines and tools during operation.Handle and operate hand and power tools safely and effectively as part of daily tasks.Lift and move materials weighing 50+ pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment.Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment.Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and quality standards.Essential SkillsExperience operating CNC machines, preferably in a pipe bending or metal fabrication environment.Ability to work with HAAS machines or similar CNC equipment.Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial machinery.Solid math and measuring skills, including reading a ruler to 1/16 of an inch.Proficiency using tape measures and other measurement tools accurately.Ability to perform saw operations, including bandsaw and other saw cutting tasks.Capability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly during the workday.Ownership of basic hand tools and knowledge of how to properly use them.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wire diagrams, and written instructions.Comfort performing manual labor in a fast-paced, repetitive environment.Understanding of how to safely use hand and power tools in a shop setting.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior experience in a construction-related or prefabrication shop environment.Familiarity with pipe bending processes and metal fabrication practices.Experience working with multiple CNC machines and cross-training in different operations.Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.Reliability and punctuality for early morning start times and long shifts.Willingness to learn, grow, and take on additional responsibilities over time.Why Work Here?You will join an organization with a strong reputation in the industry, known for offering solid benefits, pay progression, and opportunities for advancement. You will work with CNC machines, including HAAS equipment, as well as bandsaws, other saws, and a variety of hand and power tools. The standard schedule runs from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, offering a four-day workweek with long shifts. Safety is a priority, and you must wear steel toe boots and safety glasses at all times. The dress code includes long pants, a t-shirt, and steel toe boots, suitable for an industrial shop environment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ruther Glen, VA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
