CNC Machine Operator (2nd Shift)This role operates a Voortman CNC plasma cutting machine to process structural steel for production on a 2nd shift schedule. The CNC Machine Operator sets up and runs equipment, reads blueprints and work orders, inspects finished parts for quality, and supports a safe, clean, and efficient manufacturing environment. Training is available for mechanically inclined candidates who are eager to learn and develop their skills in metal fabrication and CNC operation.ResponsibilitiesOperate and monitor a Voortman CNC plasma cutting machine to process structural steel components.Set up jobs on the CNC plasma table, including loading programs and making basic machine adjustments as needed.Load and unload structural steel materials onto and off of the machine using appropriate tools and equipment.Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production schedules to ensure accurate cutting and fabrication.Verify dimensions and inspect finished parts using measuring tools such as tape measures to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, basic troubleshooting, and minor adjustments to maintain optimal performance.Use plasma cutting and burn table equipment safely and efficiently to cut steel sheets ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inches thick.Work with overhead cranes and large steel components in a safe and controlled manner.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company standards.Follow all company safety procedures, production standards, and quality guidelines throughout each shift.Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status, issues, and improvement opportunities.Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying and reporting equipment, material, or process concerns.Essential SkillsPrevious experience in machine operation, CNC, fabrication, or manufacturing preferred.Ability to operate CNC machinery, including plasma cutting or burn table equipment.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production schedules.Proficiency in using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools to verify dimensions.Comfort working with large steel components and overhead cranes.Mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail and quality.Capability to stand, bend, and lift throughout the shift in a production environment.Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.Ability to follow safety procedures and production standards consistently.Willingness to work a 2nd shift schedule, including late evenings and scheduled Saturdays.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience operating a Voortman CNC plasma cutting machine or similar equipment.Experience operating a Machitech plasma table or other plasma cutting tables.Background in metal fabrication, including plasma torch and burner operation.Familiarity with laser or burn table operations in a metal fabrication environment.Comfort working with steel sheets ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inches thick.Experience performing routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on industrial machinery.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make basic machine adjustments.Eagerness to learn new equipment and processes, with openness to on-the-job training.Why Work Here?Employees benefit from a highly competitive benefits package for full-time roles, including a strong retirement contribution program that grows over time. The facility is a metal fabrication and manufacturing shop that is very well lit, clean, and organized, with high standards for housekeeping and safety.

The role involves operating Voortman CNC plasma cutting equipment and a 12-inch Machitech plasma table, working with steel sheets from 1/4 inch to 2 inches thick, and using overhead cranes to move large steel components. Employees stand, bend, and lift throughout the shift in a production environment that emphasizes safe machine operation, adherence to safety procedures, and consistent production standards. Typical attire includes appropriate industrial workwear and personal protective equipment suitable for a metal fabrication shop.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
