2nd Shift Cnc Horizontal Lathe MachinistNew Britain, CT (On-Site) $24 – $36 per hour Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PMPosition OverviewThe 2nd Shift CNC Horizontal Lathe Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC horizontal lathe equipment under the direction of the CNC Supervisor. This role ensures efficient production, maintains high-quality standards, and supports continuous improvement initiatives within the department.Essential Job FunctionsSet up and operate CNC horizontal lathe equipment, including Nakamura machinesInterpret blueprints, work instructions, and use precision measuring instrumentsIndependently perform setups and adjustments to maintain production efficiencyChange and set all required toolingPerform first-piece and in-process inspectionsEnsure the quality of all parts produced on assigned machinesTrain and support operators within the departmentMaintain 5S standards in the CNC Lathe DepartmentConduct line walks as directed by the supervisorFollow all company safety rules and report unsafe conditionsAdhere to company policies, procedures, and Employee Handbook guidelinesPerform additional duties as assignedAdditional ResponsibilitiesSupport company goals by reducing lead times and improving customer satisfactionParticipate in problem-solving teams and continuous improvement initiativesContribute to Kaizen eventsPrepare and present Gemba Board updates as neededRequired Skills & ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of CNC setup experienceStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsKnowledge of feeds and speedsExperience working with: AluminumBrassLedloy300 series stainless steels (including 316)430F and 430FR stainless steelBasic computer literacyAbility to follow instructions and work independentlyStrong decision-making skills and accountabilityAbility to work effectively in a team environmentUnderstanding of Lean Manufacturing principlesPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs occasionallyFrequent use of hands for tooling and machine operationRegular standing and walkingGood vision, including close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
