Mount Nittany Health is seeking an experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for a 13-week contract assignment on a Med/Surg unit. Candidates should have prior inpatient acute care experience and be comfortable providing direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting.
The CNA will work collaboratively with nurses and other healthcare professionals to support patients with daily activities, personal care, mobility, safety, and other essential needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the direction of the nursing team.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
- Assist with patient transfers, transportation, admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests.
- Take and accurately document vital signs, height, and weight.
- Measure and record patient intake and output.
- Change linens and maintain clean, organized patient rooms.
- Provide drinking water and nourishment as directed.
- Assist with personal belongings and care of items such as dentures, glasses, hearing aids, and prosthetic devices.
- Perform bedside glucose testing as assigned.
- Assist with sitz baths, hot/cold applications, and other patient care activities as directed.
- Maintain a safe patient environment and ensure call bells and necessary items remain within reach.
- Observe and report changes in a patient's physical or mental condition to the appropriate nurse or team leader.
- Assist with specimen delivery, stocking supplies, chart preparation, and other unit activities.
- Clean instruments and assist with equipment setup when properly trained.
- Answer telephones and relay messages appropriately.
- Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Active Pennsylvania Nursing Assistant Certification required.
- Current BLS/BCLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience .
- Inpatient acute care experience required.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills.
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Start Date: August 5, 2026
- Shift: Night shift
- Hours: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Coverage: Required
