Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect designated resident care within the defined scope of practice. The Certified Nurse Assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess data reflective of patient status. The Certified Nurse Assistant must interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs. Provides care needed by adult and geriatric patient groups. Resident's activities of daily living (ADLs) needs are met as outlined in the plan of care. Assists residents with hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, skin care, etc.
Documentation is completed per protocol. Maintains resident's environment and safety as outlined in the plan of care. Responds to call lights and alarms promptly, provides safety mats and low beds, and maintains cleanliness of the unit. Reports any changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status to the Charge Nurse in a timely manner. Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues. Resident's nutritional needs will be met as outlined in the plan of care.
Includes meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, feeding, and honoring resident preferences and choices. Documentation is completed per protocol. Resident's rehabilitative needs are met as outlined in the plan of care. Includes range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices. Documentation is completed per protocol.
