The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity. This position is located in the Nursing Department of the Northwest LA Veterans Home in Bossier City, Louisiana.
We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to perform routine sub-professional patient care nursing duties in the care and comfort of our Veteran patients. As a Nursing Assistant, you will measure temperatures, pulses, respirations, blood pressures, heights/weights, and record in patients' medical records.

Minimum Qualifications
Six months of experience or training in patient care; OR
Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate; OR
Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician Program.

Positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require that applicants possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 12-hour shifts, which include DAY OR NIGHT shifts. Weekends and/or holidays are required..
Compensation: This position is eligible for the following Special Entrance Rates, along with Shift Differentials and a Premium Pay of $3.00 per hour worked:
Nursing Assistant 1: $13.74/hour
Nursing Assistant 2: $14.70/hour

In this role, you will also:
- Direct and assist in providing care to patients such as ambulating, bathing, positioning, lifting, and dressing.
- Directs and assists in the feeding of patients. Monitors and documents eating patterns of patients.
- Cleans rooms, makes and changes bed linen.
- Distributes clean linens, washes, dries, sorts, folds, and stores patient's clothing.
- Measures temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, intake and output, and records in patient's medical record.
- Observes patient's condition and reports any changes to the charge nurse.
- Provides care to patients with infectious diseases, as needed.
