Duties & Responsibilities
VCU Health's Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, VA, isseeking a general cardiologist to join our cardiac team! Thecandidate will be an experienced general cardiologist seeking apractice that will allow them to use the full spectrum of theirclinical skills to serve the approximately 90,000 residentsresiding in the primary service area (Virginia's Mecklenburg,Lunenburg, and Brunswick Counties), as well as a secondary servicearea extending into North Carolina. VCU Health's Pauley HeartCenter is one of the preeminent heart centers in the U.S., and thesuccessful candidate will join a team dedicated to both academicdiscovery and outstanding clinical care for its patients.
This position presents a cardiologist with the opportunity to makea meaningful impact on local communities, while also leveraging themyriad resources available within an academic health system thatis, VCU Health, based in Richmond, Virginia. South Hill is locatedabout 80 miles south-west of Richmond, and in 2014, the towns longstanding Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) merged with VCU Health.In 2017, VCU Health CMH moved into a brand-new replacement facilitywith 70 patient beds and an adjacent long-term care facility withan additional 140 beds. The Pauley Heart Center at VCU Health CMHprovides the most advanced cardiac care in the region.
- Outpatient, inpatient, and consultative clinical services
- Collaboration across hospital departments, including primarycare, hospitalists, ED, and imaging
- Collaboration with other VCU Health cardiology providers to setand implement appropriate standards of practice related to cardiaccare
- Contribute to health system goals at the local level
- Support clinical research protocols as needed
- Participate in quality, safety, and efficiency initiatives
- Participate in teaching medical students, residents, andcardiology fellows.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of clinical care andsubmission of billing in accordance with organizational policies.Comply fully with all medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulatoryrequirements.
Qualifications
- Board certified/board eligible cardiologist with demonstratedskills in cardiovascular disease
- Clinically oriented
- Must be able to communicate effectively and work with a largemultidisciplinary program
- Must be eligible for medical licensure in state ofVirginia
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
