Job Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. The role may involve assignment to a specific medical specialty department, such as orthopedics.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
- High school diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or community college course in medical assisting. If not yet a CMA, the employee will receive all hours required for the CMA exam, and the clinic will cover the fee for the first exam.
Minimum Work Experience
- At least one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant, or documented evidence of an externship completed in a medical office. Experience with electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection is required.
Required Licenses / Certifications
- Certified Medical Assistant within 26 months of hire.
- Current CPR certification.

- Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols and procedures.
- Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to a particular medical practice.
- Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
