Cloud Systems Engineer / AdministratorLocation: Hanover, MD (Onsite 5 days/week) Clearance: Active TS/SCI required Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required Salary Range: $155,000 – $180,000Our client is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Systems Engineer / Administrator to support and enhance mission-critical infrastructure across both Windows enterprise environments and AWS cloud platforms. This hybrid role blends hands-on system administration with engineering and automation, supporting secure, scalable, and compliant environments within Department of Defense programs.The ideal candidate has strong experience across Windows Server environments, Active Directory, AWS, and security-focused operations, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, DevOps-oriented, ticket-driven environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister, engineer, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022) across on-premises and cloud platformsManage and optimize Active Directory, including architecture, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and hybrid configurationsDesign and support Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions across Windows and AWS environmentsPerform system patching, updates, change requests, cyber task orders, and vulnerability remediationImplement and enforce STIG hardening and security compliance baselinesAutomate system administration tasks using PowerShell and scripting frameworksMonitor system performance and troubleshoot complex issues across servers, endpoints, and cloud resourcesConfigure and maintain file services, print services, and secure remote access solutionsSupport backup, recovery, and Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning and executionAssist with system audits, logging, and compliance reporting (e.g., RMF, CMMC alignment)Track, manage, and resolve incidents and service requests using ServiceNowSupport Agile workflows, sprint tasks, and backlog tracking using JiraCollaborate with DevOps, cloud, and cybersecurity teams to support modernization initiativesRequired QualificationsActive TS/SCI clearanceSecurity+ certification (DoD 8570 compliant)5–7+ years of experience in systems administration and/or engineering rolesStrong expertise in:Windows Server (2019/2022)Active Directory (design, GPO, replication, access control)PowerShell scripting and automationHands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, etc.)Experience with STIGs, RMF, and security compliance frameworksExperience using ServiceNow and Jira in operational environmentsSolid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing)Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting Department of Defense or other federal environmentsFamiliarity with DevOps practices and infrastructure automation toolsExposure to hybrid cloud environments and migration effortsBenefits100% employer-paid Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage for employees and their families (CareFirst)401(k) with employer matchGenerous Paid Time Off and paid holidaysAnnual bonus opportunitiesEmployer-paid short-term and long-term disability insuranceEmployer-paid life insurance (150% of salary, up to $200K)Monthly stipend for cell phone and internetAdditional employee perks and recognition programs
