Remote Contract General

Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Azure, AWS, Terraform/Packer)Position: Contract to HireWork Location: We are open to remote work or at the Surest Offices in MinneapolisWork Hours:Work hours would be normal “9-5”.I generally let the team decide their start hours, but we have a 9am meeting M,W,FInterview Process:a. How many rounds?i. Generally we’ve done 2 rounds.ii. 1st with Myself and our Principal Architectiii. 2nd with members of our engineering team just to ensure a cultural fitb.

Video vs. phone?i. We’ve traditionally done video calls either via Zoom or Teamsc. How technical will the interviews be?i. We do ask quite a few technical questions, but they are usually around how familiar someone is with a technology and applicable work experience.

Nothing crazy like a test or deep dive explanation, but we have gone deeper if the conversation leads us there.Team make-up:a. We are a team of 7.b. 1 director (me) I act a PO, Manager, and Engineerc. Sr. Principal Architectd.

5 EngineersPrimary Responsibilities:Working with Software Engineering teams; evaluate system specifications, provision, and support delivery of application infrastructure.Create and maintain IAC using Terraform, Chef and/or Puppet.Negotiate and document agreed upon standards to support auto scaling infrastructure.Administer Windows and Linux Servers including configuration, patching and ensure overall server health.Analyze all aspects of existing application infrastructure and recommend modifications that will enhance application reliability, availability, and scalability.Engage in capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning.Work with log aggregation tools like cloudwatch, Prometheus & grafanaTroubleshoot, research, and analyze complex problems.Provide Support in for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (Jenkins)You will be involved in solving moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analysis.You will provide explanation and information to others including Senior Leadership on challenging issues.You will identify / quantify scope and impact of business changes on systems.You will maintain awareness of current technology assets, and the applicability and capability of each.Other responsibilities as determined necessary.Required Qualifications:A minimum of 3 years in Cloud Infrastructure and/or devops development.Cloud computing environments such as AWS, GCP, Azure. AWS preferred.Git distributed source code management (Github)Proficient with scripting and automation languages (Powershell, Bash, Python, etc…)Experience with the HashiCorp stack including Terraform and PackerPreferred Qualifications:Technical design and programming skills to engage with the development team.
