Job Title: Cloud Engineering and Operations Manager

Location: Atlanta, GA/Columbus – Hybrid

Work Authorization Required: GC and USC only (No C2C)

Contract to Hire Position

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Cloud Engineering and Operations Manager to lead and scale our cloud and compute infrastructure capabilities. This leader will drive our Azure-based cloud strategy , while preparing for a multi-cloud future . The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical leadership , operational excellence , and transformational mindset to support both cloud-native and hybrid environments.

This role is pivotal in leading our cloud migration and modernization efforts , integrating on-premises compute and storage teams , and collaborating cross-functionally across security , infrastructure , DevOps , and application delivery teams to ensure robust, scalable, and secure cloud services.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Strategy, Engineering & Operations

• Lead the evolution of our cloud environment, currently built on Microsoft Azure, with a roadmap to embrace multi-cloud platforms.
• Define and execute the vision for cloud platform engineering, DevOps enablement, and operational reliability.
• Manage cloud infrastructure design, implementation, automation, and performance tuning.
• Ensure high availability, cost optimization, and compliance within the cloud estate.
• Oversee cloud incident, change, and problem management processes.
• Manage a team of 7 cloud engineers and expand the scope to include 5 additional on-prem compute/storage staff.
• Establish best practices, mentor engineers, and drive a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• Provide clear priorities, performance feedback, and support career growth of team members.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with key stakeholders across Security, Infrastructure, App Dev, Architecture, and Governance teams.
• Work with third-party service providers and offshore teams to delegate and manage low-level operational tasks.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on cloud best practices, tools, and design principles.

Qualifications:

Required:

• 8+ years in IT infrastructure or cloud engineering roles, with 3+ years in a leadership capacity.
• Proven experience managing cloud environments (Azure) with exposure to hybrid or multi-cloud strategies.
• Deep understanding of infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) , Kubernetes , CI/CD pipelines , and Azure DevOps .
• Experience leading cloud transformation projects including migrations, modernization, and automation initiatives .
• Strong familiarity with cloud security, governance, and compliance requirements (e.g., NIST, CIS benchmarks).

Preferred:

• Experience with compute and storage infrastructure in both cloud and on-prem environments.
• Background in managing MSPs or offshore delivery teams.
• Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS/GCP certs a plus).
