Clinical Staff Pharmacist - 3rd Shift - Inpatient Pharmacy Department
The Clinical Staff Pharmacist will maintain a professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co‑workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. The pharmacist will:
- Accurately interpret and enter medication orders in the computer for drug administration.
- Ensure that medications are dispensed and delivered promptly.
- Correctly check medications, including IVs, carts, and kits, before dispensing from the pharmacy.
- Serve as a drug information resource for members of the health care team.
- Promote safe and effective use of automated medication dispensing and packaging systems, infusion pump technologies, remote temperature monitoring systems, eMAR, and all other hospital pharmacy technology.
- Follow hospital and pharmacy policies and procedures, as well as medication‑related policies located online in the patient care manual.
- Contact the provider in a timely manner when there is a concern about a medication order related to drug interactions, allergies, disease‑state interactions, medication reconciliation issues, or other CPOE orders.
- Ensure proper charging and crediting of medications.
- Follow state and federal laws regarding dispensing of medications.
- Follow regulatory standards and policies related to all governing bodies.
- Work as a team with a positive attitude when interacting with other department employees, including pharmacy students and residents, and other hospital personnel.
- Be knowledgeable about medications and exhibit clinical and professional skills to interact effectively with physicians, nurses, and other health care practitioners on formulary issues, in‑services, rounds, etc.
- Provide supervision and direction to pharmacy technicians to ensure timely and accurate pharmacy services.
- Assist in the training and education of pharmacy residents, pharmacy students, and pharmacy technician students.
- Handle and resolve customer issues, complaints, and questions to build customer trust and loyalty.
Qualifications
• Ability to work independently
• Minimum of a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited school of pharmacy
• Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina
Work Schedule
This position is for third shift. Full‑time 72 hours biweekly.
