Clinical Psychologist – Mental Health

Job purpose

We are seeking a professional, detail-oriented, compassionate Clinical Psychologist to provide counseling services at the Military Medical Center (MOMMC), 99th Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. The contractor shall provide general support for medical operations.

Primary mission is to maintain medical readiness for worldwide contingencies by providing quality, cost-effective health care for Military Medical Center.

Duties and responsibilities

• Practice within the guidelines of state licensing board, APA Ethical Principles, and MTF privileges.
• Conduct psychological evaluations using clinical interviews, testing, and collateral information.
• Accurately diagnose all major psychiatric disorders per the latest DSM.
• Determine appropriate treatment setting and provide outpatient modalities, including psychopharmacology and interactive psychotherapies.
• Facilitate inpatient admissions to psychiatric inpatient facilities.
• Safeguard classified or sensitive information appropriately.
• Respond to consultation requests in accordance with required timeframes.
• Conduct assessments and offer guidance to other providers for secondary psychiatric complaints.
• Serve effectively as a member of the mental health flight multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Provide timely and accurate psychiatric consultation to commanders in all acute circumstances.
• Evaluate members on TDRL status and render recommendations and dispositions per MTF policies.
• Prepare comprehensive psychiatric assessments for Medical Evaluation Boards per MTF policies.
• Render fitness/suitability determinations and ensure members referred for security clearances, flying operations, personnel reliability program, and special assignments are capable from a mental health perspective.
• Conduct professional training for mental health flight staff, interns, students, and residents per guidelines and timelines.
• Engage in program development and outcome research to improve clinic services.
• Abide by medical staff bylaws upon acceptance of privileges.

Qualifications

Degree/Education

• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program or acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Air Force.

Licensure

• Must maintain a current, full, active, unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Experience

• Minimum two years’ post completion of an APA accredited Doctoral program.
• Meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Working conditions

• Work Schedule: Friday 0730 – 1630 or Monday – Thursday 0730 – 1830
• Duty Hours: Monday – Friday 0730 – 1630 or Monday – Thursday 0730 – 1830
• On‑Call Hours: Rotated among all mental health clinic providers. The on‑call period starts on Tuesday at 1530 and ends the following Tuesday at 0730. Initial on‑call requirement of 600 hours and maximum of 1380 hours per FTE. Coverage may require extended hours due to clinical necessity in urgent situations. If a holiday falls during the scheduled on‑call period, the provider may pull call on holiday weekend leave.
• Overage Hours (IAW Base Contract PWS): Overage hours awarded for face‑to‑face requirements after normal duty hours. Initial allowance of 15 hours with a maximum of 50 hours per FTE. Contract workers required to report in‑person during on‑call hours if needed.
