Role and Responsibilities

As a Clinical Psychologist for the ND State Hospital (NDSH), you will provide a broad array of services, involving complex cases requiring advanced expertise. Your primary duties will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive psychological assessments.
  • Providing psychotherapy to clients.
  • Serving as an expert examiner in court testimony.
  • Participating in consultation and training with individuals, families, agency staff, and, at times, community partners.
  • Assisting with student supervision (optional).

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Psychology.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a psychologist by the ND Board of Psychologist Examiners, in accordance with North Dakota Century Code Chapter 43‑32.
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a licensed psychologist (or comparable experience).
  • Experience in forensic assessment and conducting evaluations is advantageous.
  • Experience in consultation and training is beneficial.
  • For non‑fully licensed candidates: eligible for a supervised psychological residency (Psychology Resident) or a Licensed Psychologist I.

The North Dakota State Hospital (NDSH), located in Jamestown, is a specialized psychiatric hospital that serves the entire state. Services focus on psychiatric rehabilitation, residential substance use disorder treatment, and residential treatment for sexually dangerous individuals. Location

ND HHS utilizes a blended workplace model. This position requires face‑to‑face client services and the ability to travel to meet clients at their locations.
