Clinical Pharmacist - Sun Valley, Arizona

An opportunity is available for a skilled Inpatient Pharmacist to provide ongoing coverage at a hospital in Winslow, Arizona. This contract role supports hospital pharmacy operations and involves collaboration with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure safe and effective medication use for patients.
Schedule and Location:

• Located in Winslow, AZ
• Ongoing contract/PRN coverage
• 2-4 days per week based on coverage needs
• Pharmacy operational hours: 6:30 AM-4:30 PM daily
• Training provided in the last two weeks of July

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify inpatient medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety
• Review medication dosages, allergies, potential interactions, and adjustments for renal or hepatic function
• Enter and process medication orders utilizing Cerner pharmacy system
• Manage medication distribution with Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets, including troubleshooting
• Monitor and adjust antibiotic therapies, including vancomycin dosing and levels
• Respond to medication-related inquiries from healthcare providers and offer clinical recommendations
• Support medication reconciliation and ensure formulary compliance
• Assist with inventory management, controlled substances monitoring, and medication availability
• Uphold compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and pharmacy standards

Desired Qualifications:

• Active Arizona Pharmacist license in good standing
• Prior experience in inpatient or hospital pharmacy settings required
• Familiarity with Cerner and Pyxis systems highly preferred
• Proficient in inpatient medication dosing and clinical pharmacy practices
• Experience with vancomycin dosing and monitoring is advantageous
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Availability to complete required training during the latter half of July
