Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments and histories
- Initiate IVs, administer ordered medications, and monitor vital signs
- Verify consents, allergies, and surgical checklists for safety and compliance
- Educate patients and families on procedures, pre- and post-op instructions, and expectations
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative teams to coordinate care
- Document care, assessments, and patient responses in the EHR accurately and timely
- Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and quality standards in all pre-op activities
- Participate in continuous learning, unit-based projects, and quality improvement initiatives
