Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine, is seeking a BC/BE Clinical Geneticist to join its hospital-employed practice within the Department of Pediatrics. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive genetic evaluations across the lifespan, serving as Central and Northern Maine's only comprehensive genetics program. The position involves working with a multidisciplinary team to address a wide range of conditions and support various specialized units.

Practice Info

  • Central and Northern Maine's only comprehensive genetics program
  • Multidisciplinary care team
  • Supports a Level III NICU, PICU, Maternal-Fetal Health, and inpatient/outpatient general and subspecialty pediatric care, as well as some adult sub-specialty care
  • Located in the Pediatric Specialty Clinic with occasional inpatient consults at the main hospital
  • Work closely alongside two board-certified genetic counselors
  • Close-knit community of pediatric and sub-specialty partners with a shared passion for rural health and collaborative, family-centered care

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive evaluations for patients of all ages regarding various outpatient indications including prenatal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, developmental, neurologic, and cardiac conditions
  • Work closely alongside two board-certified genetic counselors as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
  • Assist with essential pre- and post-test counseling for patients and families alongside two board certified genetic counselors
  • Interpret complex genetic and genomic testing results, including those specific to prenatal and biochemical evaluations
  • Provide occasional on-site inpatient consultations at the main hospital facility located nearby

Compensation

  • $217,200-$225,000 annual base salary with the ability to earn additional compensation based on productivity
  • The compensation range listed reflects the range Northern Light Health anticipates relying on in setting the wages for the position
  • The range may not necessarily include all additional compensation elements available, including but not limited to call pay, leadership stipends, etc.

Requirements

  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Pediatrics and Medical Genetics and Genomics
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interest in teaching and outreach across a broad geographic area
  • Enthusiasm for working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team with general and specialty pediatrics, maternal-fetal medicine, adult cardiology and cancer care
