Job Description
The facility is seeking an experienced Clinical Director to lead and oversee the clinical operations of its growing Substance Use Disorder (SUD) PHP/IOP program in Virginia Beach, VA.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of behavioral health experience, with significant and recent direct SUD treatment experience and prior clinical leadership or supervisory responsibility. Experience in a PHP/IOP setting is strongly preferred.
This is primarily a clinical leadership position responsible for overseeing the clinical program and staff rather than maintaining a traditional individual caseload. The Clinical Director should, however, be comfortable stepping in clinically when needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the SUD PHP/IOP program.
- Supervise and support counselors and other clinical staff.
- Oversee clinical care, treatment planning, documentation, and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with Virginia DBHDS, DMAS/Medicaid, ASAM, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support clinical audits, compliance activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with CARF/accreditation requirements and preparation when applicable.
- Provide clinical guidance and support for complex patient and operational situations.
- Help develop clinical systems, processes, and a strong clinical team as the organization continues to grow.
- Step in clinically when necessary to support patients and staff.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of behavioral health experience preferred.
- Significant direct Substance Use Disorder (SUD) experience strongly preferred.
- PHP/IOP experience strongly preferred.
- Previous clinical supervision and/or leadership experience.
- Current Virginia clinical licensure/credentials appropriate to the role strongly preferred.
- LSATP and/or significant SUD credentials are a major plus.
- Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria, Virginia DBHDS, DMAS/Medicaid, clinical documentation, audits, and regulatory compliance.
- CARF/accreditation experience is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in a growing organization and willing to be hands-on and wear multiple hats when needed.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday, primarily during normal business hours.
- No regular weekend shifts.
- Some flexibility and occasional after-hours availability may be required when clinical or operational issues arise.
Patient Population
Adults primarily receiving treatment for Substance Use Disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
