Full-time Description
The Clinical Director is responsible for supervising the delivery of counseling services at Grace Counseling and other sites as needed. The position is community based and will travel to our sites in Kerrville, Uvalde, and around the San Antonio area. Responsibilities include recruitment, hiring, and training of all staff, supervising program therapists and interns, monitoring program progress, providing outcome reports, acting as a therapist to participants onsite and elsewhere, supporting the Senior Director in budgeting, grant writing, and community outreach, and representing the Counseling Department in the Archdiocese.
Position Responsibilities
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train new employees under their supervision. Make recommendations for performance improvement and/or termination.
- Disseminate program information to other community programs, agencies and entities by phone, mail, email, and through community meetings and events.
- Ensure the counseling program adheres to procedures and protocols of designated funding entities (e.g. Texas Pregnancy Care Network, VOCA).
- Train new hires, interns and all assigned staff on agency procedures, protocols, documentation requirements.
- Develop, assess and make recommendations based on a weekly productivity report for all therapists and interns.
- Monitor client files for required forms, accuracy, appropriate documentation, and service review for all clinicians on the team.
- Attend grant-related and collaborative meetings for the counseling program.
- Assist with grant proposals and present information to potential funding sources as required.
- Provide specified monthly/quarterly reports for the counseling program to funding sources and/or agency.
- Monitor job performance of all staff based on services provided, program procedures, and grant goals.
- Provide staff with monthly supportive supervision and a formal annual review.
- Provide counseling services to individual clients (adults, teens, children), couples and families—this is a case carrying lead.
- As a therapist, dedicate a minimum of 10% of the day to client work.
- Fill in duties when the other Clinical Director is on leave.
- Oversee and ensure the on‑call schedule is updated and that therapists provide appropriate services; provide backup for shelter staff if the on‑call therapist does not respond.
- Complete and maintain up‑to‑date intake forms, mental health assessments, service plans, and session notes.
- Provide all personal and professional information necessary to obtain insurance credentialing.
- Complete state requirements to maintain licensure in good standing.
- Attend professional workshops, conferences, and seminars to increase and update knowledge in counseling.
- Facilitate and/or assign workshops and groups arranged by the counseling department.
- Participate in promotional activities and community outreach events.
- Conduct weekly staff supervision (group or individual), team meetings, and case conferences.
- Supervise and assign interns to job duties.
- Make appropriate referrals for clients when necessary.
- Abide by all Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of San Antonio, Inc. rules and regulations.
- Complete all required professional training in a timely manner.
- Ensure all staff complete all required professional training in a timely manner.
- Be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Adhere to safety training and protocols daily and take precautionary measures to ensure safety and well‑being of self and others.
- Protect confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization, including but not limited to client names, service details, donor names, gifts, internal and external investigations, and financial information.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy.
- Use a trauma‑informed and solution‑oriented approach and promote collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited school in the licensure discipline.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years post‑graduate experience in individual, family, and/or group therapy.
- Preferred experience with traumatized clients, foster care, and pre‑ and post‑partum counseling.
- Experience supervising a clinical team is preferred.
- License and Credentials:
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid driver license with a clean driving record.
- Valid vehicle insurance.
- Licensed in one or more of the following:
- Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Must have a supervisory designation or be eligible to apply for one within the first year of employment.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understand both the clinical and business aspects of managing a clinical team.
- Ability to engage in clinical services in both English and Spanish is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years post‑graduate experience in counseling adults, teens, children, couples, and/or families.
- Extensive knowledge of the process of change and trauma‑informed care.
- Proficiency with computer software: Electronic Health Record, email, internet, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Solid grasp of public speaking.
- Strong time‑management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, self‑motivated, and capable of working independently and as a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Travel Requirements
Travel requirements include 85% local and 15% overnight. Travel is required to all counseling locations (Grace Counseling, Seton Home, St PJ’s, Guadalupe Home, Guadalupe Community Center, St Stephen’s Food Pantry, Mother Teresa Center, Kerrville Office, Uvalde, and others as assigned) and to rural parishes as needed.
Salary: $82,000
