Job Summary

The Clinical Director is responsible for overseeing and developing the ambulatory surgical center’s clinical departments through key tasks such as hiring, evaluating, mentoring, scheduling, and supervision. The role involves implementing staff development programs, quality assurance, monitoring budgets, and collaborating with management. The director should solve problems quickly, use critical thinking and emotional intelligence, and communicate with staff at all levels.

Position requires weekdays only—no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; the schedule is subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

Responsibilities

  • Implement staff development programs, quality assurance initiatives, and monitor budgets for service programs.
  • Work with management to develop and plan strategies for program growth and ensure business sustainability.
  • Generate revenues for clinical services and manage client billings while adhering to Joint Commission, CMS standards of care, fiscal budgets, and performance improvement.
  • Maintain excellent communication skills, work flexible hours, and lead with emotional intelligence.
  • Possess strong organizational and program development skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Attend all mandatory in‑services and meetings, and the annual Safety and Competency education session.
  • Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business of the Center.
  • Manage and supervise staff, drawing on professional experience in management and staff supervision.
  • Benefit from ambulatory experience, preferred but not required, and surgical experience in pre‑op, PACU, or perioperative nursing.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a professional nursing school
  • BSN required; MSN preferred
  • Current Texas Registered Nurse license
  • Current BLS and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications
  • 2‑5 years’ operating room experience
  • At least two years’ supervisory experience in outpatient surgery
  • Strong command of the English language, both verbal and written
  • Ability to collaborate well with physicians, employees, patients, and others
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Staff Nurse are required for this position
