Sanford Health is seeking a Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Physician to join their established team in Bemidji, Minnesota. This role involves a mix of clinic, procedures, and reading, focusing on a wide range of cardiac electrophysiology services. The position offers an opportunity to work in the only cardiology program in north central Minnesota, providing comprehensive care in a supportive environment.
Practice Info
- Join an existing EP and a team of general cardiologists, interventionalists, vascular and advanced practice providers.
- Practice includes a mix of clinic, procedures and reading.
- 3 cath labs, including 1 biplane.
- Comprehensive system of ablation and device implant equipment.
- PET/Full vascular lab and 3D TEEs available.
- Only cardiology program in north central Minnesota with the nearest referral site 140 miles away.
Responsibilities
- Perform history and physical examination.
- Admit, evaluate, treat, and provide consultation to acute and chronically ill adult patients presenting with a variety of heart rhythm disorders.
- Perform procedures including ICD, Bi-V, perm pacemakers, loop implants, CRT-D, Ablations (afib, aflutter, SVT).
- Read monitors and perform device interrogations.

Shift & Schedule
- 4 lab days per week; 1 clinic day.
- No Call.
Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Internal Medicine residency program of at least 3 years' duration.
- Successful completion of a fellowship in Cardiology of at least 3 years' duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
- Successful completion of an approved ACGME training program that is 12 months in length in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, in addition to the Cardiology fellowship.
- Certification by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
- If not board certified at the time of application but completed fellowship training within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training.
- Demonstrate successful performance of 50 ICD/permanent pacemaker placements and 25 ablations in the past 24 months (for applicants not applying directly out of a fellowship).
- The first 10 Cardiac Invasive/Interventional EP procedures at Sanford Medical Center will be performed under the supervision of the EP Lab Director or Physician Designee.
