Organizational Unit Overview
It is the mission of the Department of Pediatrics, East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine, to provide exemplary medical education/training of physicians in pediatric medicine at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, it is the mission of the department to provide model comprehensive primary and consultative subspecialty care to children of eastern North Carolina, to advance scientific knowledge through basic and clinical research, and to provide continuing medical education opportunities for physicians in the region.
Job Duties
- The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina is recruiting a Board Eligible/Board Certified (BE/BC) pediatric cardiologist with expertise in inpatient and outpatient pediatric cardiac care. The pediatric cardiologist will be responsible for outpatient clinics, outreach clinics, and inpatient management and consultations. The pediatric cardiologist should be proficient in fetal echocardiography and transthoracic echocardiography of the pediatric and adult congenital patient. The physician will join a 5-physician division providing care to a population of 1.4 million people in 29 counties in eastern North Carolina. The division provides limited electrophysiologic, interventional catheterization, and limited surgical support for the pediatric and adult congenital cardiac patient. Outpatient pediatric/adult congenital cardiac services are provided at East Carolina Heart Institute at East Carolina University as well as at 7 outreach clinic sites. Inpatient pediatric/adult congenital cardiac services are provided at the 142-bed Children's Hospital of Eastern North Carolina as well as at the 120-bed East Carolina Heart Institute at East Carolina Health Medical Center.

Minimum Education/Experience
MD or DO degree from an appropriately accredited institution, or completed foreign medical education accepted and recognized for ECFMG Certification. Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of North Carolina. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology. Minimum requirements are the same for both Clinical and Tenure Track.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license in the State of North Carolina. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Interest or expertise in transesophageal echocardiography or cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is desirable but not required.
