Remote Full Time Software Development

Charlotte, NC · Hybrid · Full time

We're a boring AI company. On purpose.

CoMaven AI helps businesses put AI to work solving real problems. We're looking for someone who can understand a customer's business, help our engineers build the right solutions, and develop the relationship as that work grows.

This role combines product management with ongoing customer ownership. You'll work directly with business leaders and the people doing the work, turn what you learn into clear priorities, and partner with our forward deployed engineers to deliver useful software. You'll also help customers think beyond the immediate project and develop a roadmap for where we can create value together.

You might come from product management, consulting, solutions consulting, customer success, or sales. We care about your judgment, curiosity, and ability to turn an unclear problem into a practical next step.

THE ROLE

As a Client Product Lead, you'll be embedded in our customer relationships from discovery through delivery and beyond.

You'll sit in the conversations where problems get defined, help customers decide what matters most, and work alongside engineers to turn those priorities into working software.

You'll have direct support from our product and engineering leadership and help shape how we work with customers as the company grows.

This isn't a traditional product management role where you manage a backlog and hand requirements to engineering. You'll be accountable for understanding the business problem, helping the team deliver the right solution, and making sure the customer sees meaningful results.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Understand the business and find the right problems to solve.

  • Lead discovery with customers to understand their workflows, challenges, and business goals.
  • Ask questions, observe how people work, and understand the problem behind a requested solution.
  • Evaluate opportunities based on the pain involved, how often it occurs, and the value of solving it.

Give the team clear product direction.

  • Turn discovery into a clear problem statement, user requirements, priorities, and measures of success.
  • Work with engineers to define a focused first version and make thoughtful tradeoffs as the team learns.
  • Give engineering the business context it needs to make good technical decisions.
  • Document what we learn, what we decide, and what remains uncertain.

Own the customer relationship through delivery and beyond.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact, keeping customers informed and involved.
  • Lead working sessions, demos, and roadmap discussions.
  • Set clear expectations about scope, timing, responsibilities, and tradeoffs. Raise risks and difficult conversations early.
  • Help customers prepare to use what we build, gather feedback, and understand whether it is delivering the intended results.

Help customers decide what comes next.

  • Develop practical roadmaps that connect near-term work to longer-term business goals.
  • Identify additional opportunities as your understanding of the customer deepens.
  • Recommend where to keep investing, where to change direction, and when to stop.
  • Work with company leadership to shape follow-on engagements around clear customer value.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Professional experience owning meaningful customer relationships, product decisions, or complex projects, with examples of taking responsibility for an outcome.
  • Strong discovery skills. You listen closely, ask useful questions, and can get past the first answer.
  • The ability to bring structure to an ambiguous problem and explain a clear path forward.
  • Clear writing and confident communication with both business leaders and technical teams.
  • Good judgment about priorities, scope, and when to push back.
  • Enough technical fluency to discuss software, data, integrations, and AI with engineers and explain the implications to customers. You do not need to be a software engineer.
  • An interest in AI and a habit of learning through hands-on use.
  • The ability to manage several customer priorities and follow through on commitments.

Experience in product management is valuable, but it is not the only path into this role. If you come from sales, consulting, or customer success, we'd want to hear how you've uncovered business problems, helped shape solutions, and stayed accountable for what happened next.

HOW WE WORK

We spend time understanding the problem before committing to a solution. We keep the bigger vision in view and deliver in small, useful steps.

Product and engineering share ownership of the outcome. We ask questions, challenge assumptions, and respect each other's expertise. We show customers work regularly and use their feedback to guide the next version.

Success means people use what we build and it improves the business result we set out to change. That requires sound product judgment, honest communication, and a willingness to reassess when something is not working.

We're a small, growing team. You'll work directly with company leadership, have meaningful ownership of customer relationships, and help shape our product and delivery practices as we grow.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL

This is a Charlotte, NC based role. We're remote to start, and we'll transition to a hybrid rhythm once we open our Charlotte office, which we expect within the next year or so.

We work closely with our customers. That means regularly visiting client offices, meeting stakeholders and subject matter experts in person, and spending time with the people who will use what we build.

Occasional flight travel is part of the job (think quarterly, plus the odd conference), not a weekly grind. We're a team of parents, and we build our travel expectations accordingly.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Competitive salary
  • Health insurance
  • Unlimited PTO
  • No equity — we'd rather tell you that upfront than dress it up.
  • The opportunity to help build a growing AI consulting and engineering company, working directly with leadership and gaining the networking, exposure, and experience that come with being early.
