ROLE: CLIENT GROWTH STRATEGIST, Customer Success
DIVISION: CUSTOMER SUCCESS
ENGAGEMENT: INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR; REMOTE; HOURS NEEDED 9AM-6PM EST
COMPENSATION: $120K OTE (1ST YEAR) - $80-$90K BASE PLUS COMMISSION
ROLE OVERVIEW:
This is a strategic advisory seat; You'll own a portfolio of Imperium Acquisition clients from onboarding through every renewal, resell, and upsell conversation that follows — but the thing that actually makes you effective in this role is marketing judgment: the ability to look at a client's acquisition strategy, funnels, and marketing channels and immediately see what's working, what isn't, and why.
We're looking for someone who has sat on the marketing/growth side of an agency or consulting business — someone who has run acquisition channels, built or audited funnels, and knows what a good campaign looks like from the inside — and who now wants to bring that judgment to a portfolio of clients as their strategic advisor and accountability partner. It's a seat for someone who can read a client's trajectory, diagnose what's actually in their way (usually a marketing or acquisition problem), and build the roadmap that gets them to their outcome — while protecting the retention and revenue numbers that keep this business thriving.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Diagnose and advise on what's actually driving (or blocking) client growth
- Review client sales calls and acquisition strategies
- Audit client marketing channels, funnels, and messaging — this is core to the role, not an occasional task
- Build each client's customized execution roadmap for growth during onboarding, grounded in a real read of their acquisition strategy
- Monitor client engagement and program progress in real time
Own the client relationship, start to finish
- Manage assigned client accounts throughout their full engagement lifecycle
- Conduct onboarding consultations with every new client
- Run bi-weekly strategic advisory sessions as needed to keep clients moving toward their goals
Be the most responsive, most trusted voice in the client's week
- Provide Slack support to clients throughout the work week
- Send structured weekly accountability and progress check-ins — no client should ever wonder where they stand
- Monitor community platforms (Skool, Slack, WhatsApp) and jump in on client inquiries
Keep the system of record airtight
- Maintain detailed, accurate notes and records in Company systems (Asana, HubSpot. or equivalent)
- Direct clients to the right program resources, training, or group coaching sessions at the right moment
Drive the outcomes that drive the business
- Collaborate with internal leadership on client performance and escalation issues
- Identify and act on opportunities for program renewals, resells, and upsells — especially those surfaced through your own marketing audits
- Encourage clients to share testimonials, Trustpilot reviews, and case studies when they're winning
- Represent the brand at all times, per the Contractor Dress Code & Professional Standards Agreement
RESULTS:
This is a results-owned seat: compensation and continued engagement are tied directly to the outcomes below.
Client management
- Manage up to 125 active client accounts
- Run bi-weekly client strategy sessions with every client
- Build a custom client execution plan during every onboarding call, grounded in a real audit of their acquisition strategy
- Provide ongoing client support and advisory guidance as needed
Support availability
- Available for client communication Monday-Friday; 9AM-6PM EST
- Response time consistent with Company client support expectations
Retention and revenue
- Minimum 33% retention, resell, or upsell rate within the first 90 days
- Client refund or cancellation rate below 3%
- Minimum (5) 5-star TrustPilot reviews/month (by day 90)
- Minimum (3) Client Interviews/month (by day 90)
What else gets measured
- Client engagement and satisfaction levels
- Program completion rates
- CRM and internal documentation accuracy
- Participation in required internal meetings and collaboration processes
KPIs may be adjusted upon reasonable notice as the business evolves. Falling short can mean a performance review, adjusted account allocation, compensation restructuring, account suspension, or termination — so this is a role for someone who wants to be measured, not someone who wants to hide from a number.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience (non-negotiable)
- Demonstrated, hands-on marketing/acquisition strategy experience — gained running marketing for an agency, consulting agency owners on growth, or leading acquisition for a coaching/consulting business. You need to be fluent in acquisition channels, campaign strategy, funnels, and messaging, with the judgment to look at a client's marketing and immediately spot what's broken and why.
- 2+ years in a client-facing advisory, consulting, or account-management capacity (CSM title not required — agency consulting, fractional marketing/growth advisory, or account management all qualify)
Strongly preferred
- Prior experience specifically as a Customer Success Manager or in a renewal/retention-owned seat
- Proven track record of retention, renewal, resell, or upsell performance
- Comfortable managing a high-volume book of accounts (100+)
- Experience working in CRM/CS systems such as Asana, HubSpot, or equivalent
Availability and commitment
- Monday-Friday availability for client communication
- Attend the All-Company Monthly Huddle
- Attend the Daily CSM Huddle (Monday-Friday)
- Submit end-of-day reports
- Participate in weekly 1:1 reviews
- Attend required group coaching calls and internal coordination meetings when applicable
- Follow the established escalation chain before elevating client issues
Why This Role
This is a seat for someone with real marketing instincts who's tired of being the person who builds campaigns for someone else's agency — and wants to be the strategic voice a whole portfolio of agency owners and consultants relies on instead. You get real ownership of a meaningful book of business, direct influence over renewal and expansion revenue, and a compensation structure (first year OTE: $120K, $80K-$90K base plus commission) that pays you for the diagnostic judgment you bring — not just for keeping accounts from churning. If you want a portfolio you can build a reputation on, this is it.
