Supervises:

Primary Purpose

To keep accurate records of student attendance and to work with students, parents and their needs and maintain a Texas Education Agency mandate of 94% attendance for all students.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepare all attendance reports-daily, weekly, six weeks attendance balance reports.
  • Principal's term report (yearly); train and supervise PBX operators.
  • Record messages from parents or legal guardians concerning student absences.
  • Contact parents of absent students.
  • Make parent-teacher conference appointments.
  • Check and record one period absences on summary sheet through campus procedures.
  • Determine whether absence is excused or unexcused and note for computer.
  • File attendance folders at end of each period; work with social worker and community liaison concerning students with poor attendance record.
  • Prepare summons for social worker.
  • Provide assistance to parents and students as needed.
  • Accept and be responsible for delivery of personal belongings brought to students by parents.
  • Monitor and initiate credit appeal procedures with the grade level principal's assistance on student who have exceeded Texas Compulsory Attendance Requirements.
  • Make assignment requests for students who have permission to leave medication at school in a safe and locked space.
  • Call parents of ill or injured students.
  • Administer first aid and summon nurse as needed.
  • Maintain current demographic information on Student Information Cards.
  • Enter daily attendance functions into the computer, file and store summaries.
  • Check six weeks reports as returned by data processing department-reconcile with daily attendance reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Verify one period absences and provide a daily attendance summary of unaccounted absences to grade level principals.
  • Maintain and operate "calling master" at end of work day for computer generated phone calls to parent's phone numbers listed on the Student Information Card.
  • Assist grade level principal in monitoring student violations of Texas Family Code Section 51.03 and prepare the warning letter process for parents and students.
  • Assist the registrar and social worker in tracking students who have withdrawn but have not enrolled in another public school as per the Leaver Code System.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Campus Principal.
