Classroom Instruction / Transportation Aide (Grade 1)

LOCATION: Smithville Elementary School

EMPLOYMENT TERM: School Year, 200 Days 7:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. (times may vary)

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED, Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8e, must pass competency test and be classified as an Aide. Plus, to be assigned to Grade 1-3 classroom as outlined in HB 3035, you must complete the following based on your current ECCAT/Aide status:

• Current ECCAT (who are permanent as of 7/1/23): will need to complete (Two Additional) WVDE or county approved in-person or online training in the science of reading, numeracy, and appropriate measures for exercising authority and control over students within two (2) calendar years of hiring date in a grade 1 – 3 classrooms. Upon successful completion of the coursework current ECCATS will receive an endorsement to serve in PK – Grade 3 classrooms.
• Current or Newly Hired Aides: will need to complete (Four Courses) WVDE or county approved in-person or online training in the science of reading, numeracy, and appropriate measures for exercising authority and control over students within three (3) calendar years of hiring date in a grade 1 – 3 classrooms. Since most aides are not certified by the WVDE, the county will ensure the training is completed within the appropriate timeframe.
