Position Summary: The Classroom Assistant – Technology Support provides in-class technical assistance to instructors by ensuring laptops, televisions, and projectors are set up, functioning properly, and ready for instruction. This position helps create a smooth learning environment by troubleshooting basic technology issues and providing prompt support throughout classes in-house or at retirement centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Setup laptops, TVs, microphones, and projectors prior to each class.
- Test audio, video, internet connectivity, and presentation software before classes begin.
- Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues during class.
- Assist instructors with using the Internet for videos.
- Respond quickly to technology issues during class to minimize disruptions.
- Ensure all classroom equipment is powered down or restarted for updates.
- Make before-class announcements and introduce instructor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous customer service, classroom support, or technical support experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Windows laptops, Mac laptops, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Zoom, and internet browsers.
- Familiarity with HDMI connections and display settings.
- Ability to troubleshoot common technology issues independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
Work Environment
- Indoor PILLAR classroom and retirement center facilities.
- Frequent interaction with instructors, staff, and students.
Time Requirements
- Present before, during, and after all scheduled daytime classes. Usually T, W, Th 9:00am – 2:30pm. Approximately 10-15 hours a week.
Pay – $20 an hour.
