Classroom Assistant | Painted Post, New York

Embark on a meaningful school-based assignment supporting a young learner as a 1:1 paraprofessional in a preschool setting. This onsite role offers a fulfilling opportunity to make a difference, focusing on providing individualized attention and care throughout the academic year.
Key Qualifications:

• Prior experience in preschool or classroom settings strongly preferred, especially working with young children or students requiring behavior support.
• For Teacher's Assistant roles, a valid NY Teacher's Assistant Certification is required. Paraprofessional aides must have demonstrable preschool or behavioral background.
• Comfortable performing hands-on care, including assisting with diaper changes and daily personal needs.
• Attentive, patient, and dedicated to fostering an inclusive, positive learning environment.
• Able to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and fellow team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Offer direct, 1:1 support to a preschool student with specialized needs, ensuring engagement and participation in classroom activities.
• Implement strategies to manage behaviors appropriately while maintaining a nurturing approach.
• Aid with personal care tasks as needed, including toileting and hygiene.
• Communicate clearly with educators and support staff to align on individualized education plans and track progress.
• Maintain a safe, encouraging space where the student feels supported both academically and emotionally.
• Adhere to school policies and maintain confidentiality in all student interactions.

This contract engagement, scheduled for the academic year, consists of 32.5 hours per week at a single school site.
