WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required
    • Classroom Aide I: Completion of Intro to Child Care Profession (or equivalent ECE course) required by Wisconsin Day Care Licensing - or must complete within 6 months of hire
    • Classroom Aide II: Above completed, plus documented enrollment in at least one course toward a Preschool Credential or CDA
  • Experience: Experience working with children ages 3-5, preferably in a licensed childcare setting; experience with low-income, multicultural families preferred
  • Certification: Adult, Child, and Infant CPR certification required within 6 months of employment
  • Professional Competencies: Excellent interpersonal skills; effective listening and written/verbal communication; ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Language: Bilingual in Spanish or Hmong preferred
  • Additional Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age; successful completion of Caregiver Background Check and TB test required prior to employment
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Classroom Aide, you'll support children's learning and wellbeing in partnership with the Lead Teacher by:
  • Assisting in planning and implementing daily activities grounded in child development principles and Head Start Performance Standards
  • Observing children daily to assess skills, interests, and needs - and using those observations to support individualized learning
  • Building warm, consistent relationships with each child, promoting self-esteem, social-emotional development, and positive guidance
  • Supporting the implementation of IEPs and behavior/medical plans for children with special needs
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment in compliance with Wisconsin Child Care Licensing standards
  • Engaging families with respect and genuine partnership - sharing daily updates, supporting home visits, and connecting families to resources
  • Collaborating with teachers, family service staff, mental health consultants, and special education providers to support the whole child
