Claims AdjusterThe main function of a Claims Adjuster is to investigate, analyze, and determine the extent of insurance company's liability to determine how much compensation is needed/required.Job Responsibilities:Analyze first reports to determine nature of loss, coverage provided, and scope of damagePromptly contact insuredsInspect and document damageMeet with insured or their representativePromptly and properly develop the file to provide accurate and timely investigation and loss analysisMaintain an active diary; monitor diary to achieve timely development of file and timely disposition of the claimRecognize and pursue recovery where possible; adhere to all statutory regulations and unfair claim practices actEffectively communicate with all internal and external customers, travel outside territory to assist other offices with catastrophic events; and directly handle mold claimsSkills:Knowledge of insurance contracts, investigative techniques, legal requirements and regulationsAbility to work with a wide spectrum of peopleDevelop and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external customersKnowledge of current construction methods and costsAbility to write estimates, use estimating software, and complete a dwelling and/or commercial building valuationExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCustomer service orientation; strong analytical and negotiation skillsEducation/Experience: High school diploma or Bachelors degree 10+ years experience required.
