Position: Civil Engineer – AI Research Contributor

Type: Hourly Contract (Remote)

Compensation: $95–$170/hour (USD)

Duration: 10–20 hrs/week for 3–4 weeks (extension possible)

Location: Remote

Requirements

• Strong professional of full-time experience working as a Civil Engineer within Professional, Scientific, or Technical Services
• Expertise in any of the following: structural analysis, construction project management, geotechnical engineering, transportation systems, or water resource engineering
• Ability to apply engineering principles to design realistic, professional-grade prompts and questions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Excellent attention to detail and comfort with independent, self-paced work
• Access to a desktop or laptop computer (no Chromebooks)

Role

• Design realistic, domain-specific prompts and tasks that reflect the real-world workflows, calculations, and decisions Civil Engineers make
• Review and validate AI-generated engineering questions for technical accuracy, clarity, and feasibility
• Apply professional judgment to ensure that benchmark tasks reflect standards in engineering practice and compliance
• Collaborate asynchronously with Mercor project leads to meet milestones and maintain quality benchmarks
• Work independently and remotely on a flexible, self-directed schedule
