Our mission is to educate every member so that they have the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry.Who We're Looking ForExperienced, creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settingsTeachers looking to empower immigrant workers through citizenship/civics and English language educationResponsibilitiesProvide integrated civics and ESL instruction to students at a high beginner to intermediate English level through a student-centered teaching approachPlan and implement lesson plans that are aligned with the program curriculum and that incorporate the provided educational materials, including the adopted textbook and USCIS Citizenship study materialsDeliver citizenship content that incorporates the required reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills for the citizenship test, as well as English vocabulary and grammar skill developmentMaintain and submit records of attendanceMaintain ongoing communication with supervisorParticipate in relevant professional development activities, as availableQualificationsExperience teaching ESL and US citizenship to adult learners preferredMA in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, or CELTA strongly preferredExperience in designing and delivering student-centered instructionStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgroundsAbility to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program dataCOVID-19 ConsiderationsRecord of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemptionCompliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organizationClasses OfferedSaturdays, 1:30pm – 3:30pmLocationCompensation:$50.00 per hourPaid preparation timePaid in-house training, coaching and professional development opportunities
