We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Citi Community Capital - Real Estate Underwriting - Assistant Vice President (Internal Job Title: Underwriter - C12) based in Mumbai, India. As this role, you will work closely with the Underwriting team and Asset Manager to ensure timely information flow and communications among all internal stakeholders, review property-level financials, oversee junior analysts, assist with classification and risk rating processes, and monitor ongoing compliance of assigned deals. You will also support projects under development, including oversight of construction progress, budget tracking, draw reviews, and risk ratings through completion and stabilization.

Responsibilities
- Work proactively with the Underwriting team/Asset Manager to ensure timely information flow/communications among all internal stakeholders.
- Review property-level financials (operating statements, rent rolls, NOI) and borrower/guarantor financial statements to identify deteriorating trends and support portfolio reviews.
- Oversee and review the work product of junior analysts, providing constructive feedback to ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery in line with credit policies and WCR standards.
- Assist with classification and risk rating processes, identify data trends and deteriorating asset performance, and consult with the Business and Underwriting on any action plans per policies.
- Monitor the ongoing compliance of assigned deals with documented financing terms and conditions, portfolio performance and financial triggers to identify and mitigate credit risks.
- Monitor projects under development, including oversight of construction progress, budget tracking, draw reviews, execution risks, risk ratings, and annual reviews through completion and stabilization.
- Prepare annual credit approval and quarterly memos in a timely manner.
- Assist with stress testing, concentration analysis, audits, risk ratings, and credit policy initiatives.
- Maintain audit‑ready credit files in line with WCR policies.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in credit analysis, portfolio management, underwriting, or structuring at a financial institution, rating agency, financial guarantor, or asset management firm.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills; modeling experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail – responsible for due diligence and documentation to ensure all risk, business, and policy points are covered.
- Oral and written communication skills enabling effective interaction with internal and external constituents at all levels.
- Team player with a strong work ethic who works well with others at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability and willingness to work under pressure and manage time and priorities effectively.
- The ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines and initiate ideas with other members of the SCREU team and Independent Risk to mitigate risk.
- Real estate or structured credit experience preferred.
