Primary Purpose:
CHOICES Assistants will provide extended classroom support and follow up for students who have received services through the School Behavior plan. CHOICES Assistants will monitor and model evidence/research-based behavior intervention strategies based on Denton ISD code of conduct and/or The CHOICES handbook. CHOICES Aide will help with data collection and analysis, communicate with Behavior Outreach Specialists regarding further needs, and ensure that behavior interventions will be practiced with fidelity. CHOICES Aide will be a resource for equitable opportunities for students with challenging behaviors. CHOICES Aide will work to maintain the interventions with existing supports in the school and will streamline the shift of responsibility to the school staff. CHOICES Aide will coordinate with campus administration to implement and deliver innovative research-based behavior curriculum to select students receiving CHOICES services.

Qualifications:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent and ability to pass a rigorous content-oriented exam
- Associate degree or 48 semester hours of college credit
- Current Texas educational aide certificate or ability to obtain
- Some experience working with children
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Knowledge of general office equipment
Instructional Support
- Provide direct support to staff by introducing and modeling research/evidence-based interventions
- Provide direct support to students by assisting students academically and provide interventions to support the curriculum
- Coordinate with Behavior Specialists/Liaisons and school staff to implement behavior curriculum
- Provide transition plans and support for students moving from one educational setting to another
- Coordinate with Behavior Specialists/Liaisons and school staff to develop effective intervention plan
- Coordinate with Behavior Specialists/Liaisons and school staff to develop crisis/safety plans
- Provide interventions to enable students to remain in school and/or help stabilize
- Deliver behavioral-based curriculum to CHOICES students
- Monitor student's attendance and suspension data
- Follows district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Participates in professional development, department meetings, and special events as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for full duty day supervision of assigned students
