Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Chiller Technician in Boise, ID to provide expert maintenance and repair services for large-scale central plant equipment.
Impact
- Ensures the reliable operation of critical cooling systems for hospitals, manufacturing plants, and large commercial facilities.
- Reduces equipment downtime through expert troubleshooting and high-quality workmanship.
- Mentors junior staff and apprentices to maintain a high standard of technical excellence across the service team.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex troubleshooting and repairs on centrifugal, screw, and reciprocating chillers.
- Execute preventative maintenance tasks on air-cooled and water-cooled central plant equipment.
- Calibrate and program variable frequency drives (VFDs) to optimize system energy efficiency.
- Repair and align centrifugal pumps and motors including bearing replacements.
- Maintain cooling towers, filtration systems, and various types of heat exchangers.
- Monitor and integrate equipment with Building Automation Systems (BAS) using BACnet protocols.
- Document all work performed and track materials used for every service call.
- Communicate technical findings and repair recommendations clearly to customers and supervisors.
Requirements
Must-Haves
- 5 or more years of experience specialized in chiller service and central plant maintenance.
- Strong technical knowledge of major brands such as Trane, York, Carrier, or Daikin.
- Proficiency in reading control sequences and troubleshooting EMS devices.
- Commitment to strict safety standards and the use of proper diagnostic instruments.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Smardt oil-free centrifugal chillers.
- Advanced knowledge of process chilled water systems.
- Previous experience working in a union environment.
