Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Chiller Support Technician in Columbia, SC to provide technical expertise for industrial process cooling systems and documentation management.
Impact
- Resolve complex technical issues for field technicians and end-users to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
- Improve product reliability by maintaining accurate technical documentation and electrical schematics.
- Streamline manufacturing workflows by optimizing work instructions and production records.
- Serve as a critical technical bridge between the engineering department and the production floor.
Responsibilities
- Support customers and field technicians via phone and email to troubleshoot chiller alarms and start-up issues.
- Manage and update technical documentation including O&M manuals and service guides for every unit.
- Maintain accurate electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to reflect current build specifications.
- Update manufacturing records and work instructions within the company ERP system.
- Coordinate with the engineering team to escalate advanced technical or design challenges.
- Oversee workstation layouts and tooling improvements to increase production efficiency.
- Document common field issues to assist in continuous product improvement and training.
- Learn the complete industrial chiller product line to act as a primary technical resource.
Requirements
Must-Haves
- Strong technical foundation in HVAC/R, mechanical systems, or an engineering degree.
- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical assembly drawings and electrical schematics.
- Advanced computer proficiency including experience with spreadsheets and technical writing.
- Excellent communication skills to provide clear technical instructions to field personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects with minimal direct supervision.
Nice-to-Haves
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Previous experience working with industrial refrigeration circuits or process chillers.
- Familiarity with ERP or MRP software platforms for manufacturing.
