Projected Growth : Scaling to 300+ kids, with a volunteer team of 100+

Role Overview

The Kids Director at Legacy Church is responsible for casting vision, building systems, and shepherding the people that make Kids Ministry thrive—from birth through 5th grade. This role combines strategic leadership, pastoral care, and program oversight to create a safe, fun‑filled, Christ‑centered ministry where every child is known, loved, and led toward Jesus. As the church grows, the Kids Director will develop new leaders, scale systems, and innovate to meet the needs of 300+ kids and over 100 volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

Vision and Culture Leadership

• Champion the vision: To love, live, and lead like Jesus within the Kids Ministry
• Develop a culture that aligns with Legacy's mission and family ministry philosophy; lead with high character and spiritual maturity—modeling what it looks like to follow Jesus joyfully

Sunday Ministry Execution

• Oversee all Sunday Kids Ministry experiences (infants–5th grade)
• Ensure environments are safe, clean, and welcoming
• Provide direction and support to Room Leads, Communicators, and SGLs
• Lead weekly team huddles and problem‑solve in real time

Volunteer Leadership & Development

• Recruit, train, and shepherd a growing team of 100+ volunteers
• Implement a clear leadership pipeline (Assistant SGL ? SGL ? Room Lead/Communicator)
• Host onboarding, training, and appreciation events
• Create a volunteer culture of consistency, joy, and ownership

Parent Engagement

• Build strong relationships with parents; be a trusted voice and presence
• Equip parents with take‑home resources and digital tools
• Champion parent partnership through communication and milestone events (child dedication, baptism, etc.)

Systems and Safety Oversight

• Manage check‑in/check‑out, background checks, room ratios, incident reporting, and sanitation protocols
• Work with staff/security on facility and emergency procedures
• Oversee allergy management, wellness policy, and volunteer compliance

Curriculum and Programming

• Oversee selection, customization, and execution of curriculum (Orange or similar)
• Ensure Gospel‑centered teaching is creative, consistent, and age‑appropriate
• Develop communicators and storytellers to lead large group moments

Strategic Planning and Growth

• Forecast future needs as attendance grows (staffing, volunteer ratios, room capacity)
• Create scalable systems for check‑in, space usage, and volunteer communication
• Collaborate with Next Gen and Executive teams on cross‑ministry alignment

Ideal Qualifications

• Proven Kids Ministry leadership experience (3+ years, preferably in a growing church)
• Strong organizational systems thinker and team builder
• Highly relational and able to pastor both kids and adults
• Spiritually mature and aligned with Legacy’s theology and culture
• Skilled communicator (stage + interpersonal)
