First Baptist Church Tuscola is prayerfully seeking a part-time Children’s Ministry Director to help nurture children from preschool through 6th grade as they learn to know, follow, and love Jesus. We are looking for a Christ-centered, relational, and organized leader who will partner with families, encourage volunteers, and help create a safe and welcoming environment where children can grow in faith.

First Baptist Church of Tuscola exists to glorify God and make disciples by equipping our community to follow Jesus and make Him known. We are a small church located in Taylor County, south of Abilene, Texas, in the Jim Ned school district. Founded in 1898, we are grateful for God’s faithfulness through the years and excited about what He is doing in our church and community today.

Position Summary

Working under the leadership of the Senior Pastor, the Children’s Ministry Director will guide and strengthen ministry to children and their families. This role combines spiritual leadership, volunteer development, classroom organization, event planning, and ministry administration to help children encounter the gospel in age-appropriate, meaningful ways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, vision, encouragement, and training for volunteers serving children from preschool through 6th grade.
  • Select and coordinate engaging, biblically faithful curriculum for Sunday School, Children’s Worship, and Wednesday night activities.
  • Teach and organize Bible study opportunities for children on Sundays and Wednesdays.
  • Partner with parents as they shepherd their children spiritually at home.
  • Plan and oversee special children’s ministry events throughout the year, including Vacation Bible School and other outreach opportunities.
  • Promote a safe ministry environment by maintaining volunteer background checks, child abuse prevention training, and appropriate safety practices.
  • Steward the children’s ministry budget with care and responsibility.
  • Participate in church staff meetings and quarterly business meetings as part of the broader ministry team.

  • A genuine love for children, families, volunteers, and the local church.
  • A positive attitude, teachable spirit, and willingness to serve collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills, dependability, and follow-through.
  • Ability to build teams, encourage volunteers, and communicate clearly.
  • Financial responsibility and wise stewardship of ministry resources.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to use ministry-related tools as needed.
