To perform duties in the preparation, serving and storing of foods and beverages and the cleaning of food service facilities and equipment.

School Principal

High school diploma or GED preferred. A level of education necessary for reading and following written instructions, menus, recipes, work schedules, training materials and other written information related to the work.

Ability to be trained and function as a cashier, including counting money in coordination with others. Exhibits courtesy and tact with children and adults. Ability to work cooperatively as a team member. Accepts assignments from school nutrition manager for all needed tasks and assignments. Visual acuity. Ability to hear and speak. Transportation to and from work. Possesses general knowledge of food preparation and safe food handling. Possession of School Nutrition Association Certification is desirable. Ability to perform essential functions detailed below.

  1. Regular dependable attendance with absences approved in advance with the exception of sick leave which may be approved after the fact. Excessive absenteeism may result in dismissal.
  2. Keeps use of personal electronic devices to a reasonable level during work hours and limits use of the same, if and when asked to do so by immediate supervisor. This includes cell phone calls, music devices with ear plugs, texting and other as behaviors are observed.
  3. Rotates through the full range of School Nutrition functions
  4. Ability to perform moderate physical work
  5. Ability to reach, push, pull, lift, finger and grasp
  6. Ability to walk and stand continually during work hours
  7. Ability to stoop, bend, lean and crouch
  8. Ability to work in a range of temperatures from high too low (examples: hot kitchens & freezers)
  9. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds alone and 40 to 50 pounds with assistance
  10. Ability to work at an acceptable rate to complete tasks and adhere to schedules
  11. If the employee is concerned that a physical task, such as lifting, is beyond what can be handled safely alone, the need for help is communicated and help is accepted.
  12. Prepares and handles food following both written and oral directions
  13. Prepares food following recipes, production forms, menus, portion control standards and directions provided
  14. Serves customers promptly and courteously using correct portion sizes and facilitates food being attractive and appealing
  15. May function as a cashier; follows standard procedures, collects and accounts for funds with honesty and integrity
  16. Cleans and sanitizes food service equipment (small and large), surfaces and facilities including but limited to: sweeping, mopping, washing, wiping, scrubbing, spraying, dusting, taking out trash and items to be recycled.
  17. Follows health, safety and sanitation standards; maintains temperature control in all aspects of food preparation, service, storage and disposal
  18. Unpacks and date marks foods and supplies and assists with proper storage in dry, refrigerated and frozen storage areas
  19. Assists in receiving, storing and conducting inventory of food service supplies, food and beverage items; receiving involves written accounting of items received.
  20. Assists in safeguarding the inventories and equipment that belong to School Nutrition
  21. Assists with completion of reports such as recording food temperatures, recording quantities of food prepared and other data as needed
  22. Participates in promotions and activities to increase customer counts
  23. Follows established School Nutrition dress code
  24. Practices good personal hygiene
  25. Reports and is ready to work on time at assigned duty station
  26. Attends training sessions as required
  27. Must exhibit an ability to work harmoniously with others on an ongoing basis
  28. Complies with applicable School Nutrition regulations under the National School Breakfast, Lunch, Snack and other programs
  29. Completes and participates in required training such as monthly education modules, back to school training, on-site and additional in district and out of district training opportunities.
  30. Performs other duties as assigned
