Baystate Health is seeking a visionary and collaborative Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the strategic direction, development, and execution of enterprise technology across a complex, multi-site healthcare system.This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a forward-thinking executive who can balance innovation with operational excellence in a mission-driven healthcare environment.RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the SVP & Chief Information & Digital Officer (CIDO), the Chief Technology Officer is a key member of the senior digital leadership team and will play a pivotal role in advancing digital transformation. This leader will ensure that all technology platforms—including clinical systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital innovation—are aligned to improve patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and financial performance.Key Responsibilities-Strategic Technology LeadershipDefine and execute the enterprise technology vision aligned with organizational and digital strategyPartner with executive leadership (CIDO, CMIO, CNO, CFO, and others) to drive system-wide digital transformationAdvise senior leadership and the Board on emerging technologies, risks, and opportunitiesInfrastructure & Platform ExcellenceOversee IT infrastructure, cloud strategy, network architecture, and system reliabilityEnsure high availability and performance of enterprise systems, including the Oracle Health EHRBuild scalable, resilient, and cost-effective technology environmentsCybersecurity & Risk ManagementLead enterprise cybersecurity strategy, including risk management and incident responseEnsure compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH, CMS)Implement strong data governance, privacy, and security frameworksData, Analytics & AI EnablementOversee enterprise data architecture, interoperability, and analytics capabilitiesEnable real-time data access to support clinical and operational decision-makingPartner with data and AI leadership to advance innovation and AI-enabled capabilitiesOperational & Financial LeadershipEstablish departmental vision, goals, standards, and performance metricsLead budgeting, capital planning, and cost optimization strategiesEnsure ROI on major technology investments and initiativesVendor & Stakeholder ManagementManage strategic vendor partnerships, contracts, and performanceLead vendor risk management and issue resolutionBuild consensus across stakeholders through transparent and effective communicationTeam Leadership & CultureBuild, mentor, and lead a high-performing, service-oriented technology organizationFoster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvementSupport professional growth and development across the IT teamSCHEDULE:Full-timeLOCATION:1 Monarch PlaceSpringfield, MAQUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred)Minimum of 15+ years of progressive IT experience10+ years in IT or business leadership roles5–7+ years in senior leadership within a large, complex healthcare organization or vendor environmentEducation:Bachelors Degree (Required)Certifications:CompensationNote: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range.
Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range.
